DAIWA SALTIST MQ 10000
The Daiwa Saltist has been around since the early 2000’s when the first series was introduced as a basic variation of the first Saltiga model. Over the years its had many variations with the latest model being the most technically advanced model to date. I’ve shot every version over the years, the latest is probably the most stylish out of all of them.
Matt black reels with some colored highlights are almost a pleasure to photograph, get the lighting and colour balance correct and it’s easy. I always rely on an Xrite Colorchecker and a Sekonic L508 light meter to get it right. Their only drawback is that they show every possible speck of dust, scratch or finger print, so they need to be pedantically cleaned before shooting. And even then when I’m ready to shoot I will hit them again with an air gun.
