IN MY SIGHT – ALPINE DEER HUNTING WITH MATT TRIPET
Bow hunting deer is a much more intimate experience that demands more of the hunter in terms of skill, patience and perseverance. Unlike hunting with a gun, success with a bow rides on your ability to capitalize on an opportunity to close the distance and take a well-placed shot. Stealth and camouflage play the main role, being able to blend into the surrounds, remain silent and keep upwind of the prey is imperative.
Photographing the hunt is the same and the advantages of the modern mirrorless camera reign supreme as a photographer. DSLR’s are notoriously loud, I do love that solid crack of the shutter on my Nikon D5 but when it comes to silence the Nikon Z7 is amazing. By setting the silent shutter mode and turning off the focus sound indicator the camera turns into the stealth machine. Ideal for the hunt.
